I've been carrying these beauties around for a while and have decided they deserve a little bit of fame! I really love each of these little charracters - but they were a little troublesome in the making i remember!
Hand-stitched canvas bags, screen printed feathered friends and embroidery.
Commissioned hand made gift idea for a greetings card agency i am now working with. Feminine and delicate with laser cut florals, butterflies and dragonflies, vintage cigarette card, stamp, collected buttons, lace, ribbons and a hand stitched message.
I was commissioned this piece by a a lovely lady who spotted me at New Designers! She asked me to create a new compostition for a Nursery, featuring all the little elements she liked best from my collection of hand made wallpapers, artist books, ceramics and silk handerchiefs.
I thoroughly enjoyed creating this piece, getting back into the studio; laser cutting and screen printing was so exciting! I am so pleased that she and her family are enjoying Mr Wagtail in his garden too!
An amazing week! Congratulations to all the lovely LCAD exhibitors - an exciting stand full of gorgeous, individual work that recieved so much interest!
It was really exciting to be able to exhibit at such a high profile event, a great opportunity to showcase my collection to the design world! I recieved alot of interest, several offers of placement, freelance work and commission and i was genuinely taken by surprise, extremely flattered and very happy!
My ABSOLUTE highlight of the week was becoming the winner of the Selvedge Prize for Excellence in Textiles!
I graduated in July 2009 from Leeds College of Art with a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Printed Textiles & Surface Pattern Design. Having spent two years in industry working as a freelance fashion and greetings card designer as well as designing my own collections I am currently taking a short break from design whilst studying for an MA Arts, Business and Creativity at Newcastle University. Please check out my new blog ‘Creative Magpie’! I’m busy collecting shiny little gems about creativity and the creative industries!
